Morning Tea Baskets 2019

February 4th 2019 Morning Tea Baskets for Surfcoast Schools

Monday morning saw the culmination of several weeks of planning and preparation by our Minister Rev Suzie and members of the four Surf Coast Congregations who together embarked upon an outreach to support local school staff in our area by delivering them surprise Morning/Afternoon baskets. Representatives from each church gathered in the Torquay Church foyer on Sunday afternoon to pack up the amazing range of home backed goods, teas, ground coffee and other treats.

Suzie and Harry embarked upon their route at 9.00am together with local reps in each church community and delivered the baskets to the schools

Rev Suzie wrote of the week 5 of Epiphany:

I am often surprised at God’s timing, generosity and risk taking. Sometimes I see it in the most ordinary of tasks, sometimes in the grandest. Jesus never fails to astound, surprise and humble me just, as I imagine, he did Simon Peter after the generous haul of fish by the Lake of Gennesaret so long ago.

I think we captured and passed on some of that feeling this week as the Surf Coast UC delivered morning tea baskets to our local schools. Generous and unexpected giving such as this tends to evoke feelings of amazement in recipients. The note from the Torquay Coast Primary school said “This kind of generous gesture was very much appreciated. It was a lovely gesture. Please pass on our gratitude.”
